What patients need in the time they have with you

For many patients, the time they spend with you when you are delivering RETURN will be very different to their previous experiences of dental care.

During this conversation, patients need:

To feel heard and understood
This means acknowledging their experiences and recognising that these are real and meaningful to them, even if you are aware there may be other factors involved.

Space to tell their story
Patients should be able to talk without interruption and share what has shaped their dental attendance over time.

Clear, evidence-based information
Information should support understanding, not overwhelm or pressure patients into decisions.

Your role is to listen in a non-judgemental and respectful way to patients’ beliefs and experiences.
