Step 5: Finishing the session

To finish the session:

  • Summarise what has been discussed
  • Show your patient the Next Appointment Toolkit booklet
  • Encourage the patient to revisit the materials at home
  • Reinforce that support is available

It is important that the patient leaves the conversation feeling:

  • Listened to
  • Respected
  • Not judged
  • Even a small positive experience can influence future attendance.
